Producer of the week: Park Farm, Kent

Farmdrop recently welcomed Andrew and Anna from Park Farm to the Farmdrop fold. They farm 300 acres of typical Wealden farmland in Hawkhurst, Kent. They use traditional methods and farm in a way that supports and enhances their surrounding countryside, whilst producing fully traceable free-range, grass-fed, quality beef, pork and lamb. 

Most of the livestock are born and reared on the farm which qualifies them for Farm Assurance under the Farm Assured British Beef and Lamb Scheme. As part of the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) Scheme, they leave wide unploughed margins around arable fields, manage 30 acres of grassland to produce spectacular wildflower meadows and they also maintain the hedgerows, and pockets of woodland, all to encourage and support wild flora and fauna. This is also home to small areas of ‘owl pasture’ designed to appeal to small mammals, which in turn attract and sustain a thriving owl population.

Andrew and Anna also run a traditional village butchers and a beautiful holiday cottage. Andrew also finds time to coach a rugby team and do hog roasts for weddings and celebrations.
