After a pretty miserable winter, what a summer it’s been!
Murray finally grabs his first Wimbledon title - whadda’ boy, Royal Baby George was born, England retain the Ashes in style… AND it was officially the 9th warmest summer since records began in 1910, B&Q enjoying a 300% increase in air-conditioning and fan sales.
But after all the fun and games it’s now time for our British farmers to get down to business in the fields. After a tough year of carefully tending to crops under challenging conditions, it’s time to have at it and harvest this years bumper crop.
BBC Two are running a three-part series titled Harvest, hosted by Phillipa Forrester and Masterchef’s ex-grocer Gregg Wallace, taking us behind the scenes to celebrate British farming and to shed light on the ups and downs of the crop-growing season and give us a look into the hard work and complex logistics of gathering the billions of pounds of produce that we depend on.
Be sure to tune in at 8pm tonight for the first episode - Vegetables ‘The Goodness of the Earth’, going to be a cracker.
