Eat them straight out of the bag, dunk them into a pot of hummus, load them up with cheese and guac for Mexican nachos… tortilla chips are addictively good. But did you know you can make homemade tortilla chips very easily yourself? Plus, without the added salt, they’re that bit healthier. Here’s an easy guide to help you.
Healthier homemade tortilla chips in 4 easy steps
Step 1. Cut fresh tortilla wraps into triangles.
Step 2. Place in a single layer on a lined baking tray, then brush lightly with oil. Any oil works here, although coconut oil is best avoided. Sunflower, olive or rapeseed are good options.
Step 3. Place in the oven at 180ºC and bake for 5 minutes, or until lightly golden – keep an eye on them, they burn easily!
Step 4. Serve up with your favourite dips, or eat straight up. Store in an airtight container and they’ll last the week.
