Picture the scene – a shiny airstream trailer, sunburnt faces, sun-tinged grass, the echoing bass of a playing band and a satisfying pot of gumbo in hand. This is the story of the humble beginnings of Ian Hamilton-Burke’s wholesome and heartfelt food business, way back in 1999. After a start dishing out healthy street food at London’s markets and music festivals, fairs and concerts across the country, The Soulful Food Company have been perfecting their range of OnePots ever since – and thankfully you can enjoy them at home too.
Coming to you from their South London kitchen in the shape of soups, curries, tagines, and hotpots, these guys use fresh vegetables delivered daily and 100% British meat reared outdoors from a farmer they know and trust – all whilst refusing to add any artificial preservatives to their carefully constructed slow cook recipes. Flavours from around the world are given a British spin, adding a bit of spice and intrigue to proceedings. For a meat-free protein boost, try the Thai Chilli Kale soup, packed with coconut, lemongrass, ginger, quinoa and edamame; or make like you really are in festival mode and wash a slow cooked ‘till tender West Country Pulled Beef Chilli OnePot with wholegrain Black Barley down with a crisp, cool bottle of beer.
