Upcycle Your Farmdrop Delivery Bags into Festive, Plastic-Free Wrapping

2nd November 2021

In between seeing friends and family, present shopping and cooking delicious food, Christmas is an opportunity to make smart decisions around recycling, repurposing and waste. At Farmdrop, reducing our environmental impact is in everything we do, and we feel inspired to share our tips and tricks to help you do the same!

Our brown delivery bags have brought so much joy this year – so we thought, why not give them a second life?  Start collecting yours after each delivery, and spend an afternoon transforming them into stylish, plastic-free gift bags and wrapping.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Pre-loved ribbons – any colours will do!
  • Twine
  • Foraged greenery, or sprigs of dried eucalyptus
  • Herbs such as bay or rosemary
  • A ruler
  • A wooden or metal skewer

  • If you’re going to fold the bag, snip the handles off now.
  • Place your present on a flattened back to decide whether you’ll use the bag at full height, three-quarter height or folded in half.
  • Fold the bag at the appropriate height to fit the gift.
  • Open the bag back up, and place your gift inside.
  • Using your skewer to press a mark, measure 6cm from the top of your bag. Then gently press a mark to indicate the centre of your bag width. At either side of these points, push your skewer through the folded bag to create two holes.
  • Thread your ribbon or twine through both holes (in the same direction).
  • Tie a knot to secure it in place.
  • Take your adornments such as sprigs of herbs or foliage, and place at the centre of this knot. Tie a bow around the decorations to hold in place.

And thats it! No plastic, no tape – just your creativity is required!
