Boil 1 litre of water in the kettle. Put the spaghetti, tomatoes, lemon zest, garlic, red chillies, salt, pepper and olive oil into a big saucepan.
Pour in the boiling water then turn on the heat and get the water to a rolling boil. Give everything a good stir then lower the temperature, put the lid on and let everything cook together for 5 minutes.
Take off the lid and stir the again. Put the lid back on and cook for a further 4-5 minutes until the liquid has almost evaporated.
Remove the lid and add the kale leaves. Stir it all round so the the kale starts to wilt and soak up the sauce.
Add the basil and pine nuts and serve immediately.
