Golden Butter Popcorn

Here's how you do it

  1. In a large pan, on a high heat, add the oil and a few popcorn kernels. Put on a tightly fitted lid and wait for 5 minutes or so, until you hear the pops.
  2. When all the kernels in the pan have popped, this means the oil is at the right temperature. Add the rest of the kernels and replace the lid.
  3. Give the pan a shake a few times throughout and wait until the popping sounds stop. This should be about 8 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, melt the butter, golden syrup and salt in a small pan.
  5. Once the popcorn has popped and the butter and syrup has melted, add the syrup mixture to the popcorn. Replace the lid and give the pan a good shake, to ensure a good coating.
  6. Leave to cool slightly and serve.

  • 50g popcorn
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 40g salted butter
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
