Simply Salty Popcorn

A quick and easy stove top recipe for popcorn, simply salted.

Here's how you do it

  1. In a large pan on a high heat, add the oil and a few popcorn kernels. Put on a tightly fitted lid and wait for 5 minutes or so, until you hear the pops.
  2. When all the kernels in the pan have popped, this means the oil is at the right temperature. Add the rest of the kernels and replace the lid.
  3. Give the pan a shake a few times throughout and wait until the popping sounds stop. This should be about 8 minutes.
  4. Once all the popcorn has popped, remove from heat and transfer to a bowl. Sprinkle over the salt, crushing with your fingers as you do so. Give it a stir and serve.

*Chef's Tip: You could give a salty twist by adding some spices into the mix. Or for a real umami hit, try mixing some dried seaweed (like Dulse) with the salt. *
