Wild Garlic, Lemon and Orzo Soup

A simple soup that celebrates the wild garlic season, using Orzo pasta from Greece.

Here's how you do it

  1. Fry the onion, celery and half of the wild garlic in the olive oil for 10 minutes, until soft.
  2. Add the bouillon with the hot water and bring up to the boil, then boil for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the orzo and cook for 5 minutes, until soft. Add more water if you feel that it is getting less soupy.
  4. When the orzo is cooked, season the soup with salt and pepper, add the rest of the wild garlic and lemon juice and serve.


  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 sticks of celery, finely chopped
  • 35g wild garlic, shredded
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 150g orzo pasta
  • 1 litre hot water
  • 2 tablespoons bouillon vegetable stock
