Oscar Harding is a passionate 6th generation farmer. His family have been growing crops in Hertfordshire since the mid 1800s.
In 2012 he saw an opportunity to make something out of the oilseed rape crop and founded Duchess Oil.
It takes a year of hard work to get Duchess from soil to oil. Duchess extra virgin cold pressed rapeseed oil is grown, harvested, pressed and bottled on the farm. The gentle process protects the delicate flavour characteristics of the oil.
Rapeseed oil has a higher burning point than most other oils (240 degrees), it has half the saturated fat of olive oil, and higher levels of rich omega oils. it's a healthy alternative to other cooking oils and is very versatile, it can be used instead of butter and other fats in a host of sweet and savoury dishes.
