Our cold-pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil has a slightly nutty and earthy flavour, it is very versatile and works amazingly in dressings, dips and marinades.

It can add warming, golden colour and is an excellent carrier of flavour, it allows other ingredients such as spices to really shine during cooking. It has a high smoke point, so it won’t burn when heated to high temperatures. This makes it perfect for deep-frying or searing foods when you want to preserve their natural flavour.

Cooking Instructions

Why not try making your own mayonaise: 2 medium free range egg yolks, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 1 good squeeze of fresh lemon juice, 300ml of Duchess Rapeseed Oil 1. Put the egg yolks into a large bowl   2. Add 1 tbsp of Dijon mustard along with a little seasoning   3. Whisk well until completely smooth   4. Gradually add the Duchess Rapeseed Oil in a steady fashion whilst whisking   5. Once you have a relatively thick and smooth mayonnaise add the lemon juice and briefly whisk again 6. It will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days

Oscar Harding is a passionate 6th generation farmer. His family have been growing crops in Hertfordshire since the mid 1800s. In 2012 he saw an opportunity to make something out of the oilseed rape crop and founded Duchess Oil. It takes a year of hard work to get Duchess from soil to oil. Duchess extra virgin cold pressed rapeseed oil is grown, harvested, pressed and bottled on the farm. The gentle process protects the delicate flavour characteristics of the oil. Rapeseed oil has a higher burning point than most other oils (240 degrees), it has half the saturated fat of olive oil, and higher levels of rich omega oils. it's a healthy alternative to other cooking oils and is very versatile, it can be used instead of butter and other fats in a host of sweet and savoury dishes.
