All turkeys delivered between 16th and 24th December will have a best before date of 26th December. This item is prepared on demand and cannot be changed or cancelled after 15th November. These are proper old fashioned organic bronze turkeys; slow growing by nature, fully mature and free to range across meadows and pastures on our duchy estate farm in the Dartmoor national park. They are then hung for 10 days for depth of flavour.
Each turkey comes boxed with the giblets and garnished with herbs ready for the oven. Please note when buying your bird that the total weight always includes the giblets
We recommend 2 portions per kg. All our free range poultry is naturally reared. Weights are not absolutely precise

Our turkeys are all slow growing strains and from beginning to end we have complete control over the whole process. The day old poults have been hatched early in the summer, then brooded in our granite barns for about six weeks and from start to finish are fed a simple traditional cereal based diet. When the turkeys are big enough they are given access to the surrounding fields and meadows. Here the birds have the opportunity to range and forage on grasses, herbs and seasonal berries. After 24 weeks of age the birds have reached full maturity and have a traditional finish of fat. This ensures the meat to be tender and succulent when cooked.
All our Turkeys are dry plucked by hand allowing us to game hang our birds for 10 days. This further enhances the flavour as well as improving the texture. After the birds have been hung we prepare your bird for the oven and present it in one of our own unique turkey boxes. It is this process that ensures that our birds guarantee you that traditional excellence at Christmas.
Storage Information and Shelf-life
Always unwrap the bird and place it in the fridge until you are ready to cook. All turkeys delivered between 16th and 24th December will have a best before of 26th December, provided they are kept at the correct temperature (0 to 2 degrees celsius).

In 1986 my parents came to the traditional Dartmoor hill farm known as Frenchbeer. While building up the sheep flock and beef herd, a few Christmas turkeys were produced to aid cash flow.
