Description

Certified Organic by the Soil Association. Our breading sows eat a 100% homegrown diet. Our weaned pigs diet consists of a mix of forage, home grown feed and a small amount of bought in organic feed. Ultimately our aim is to produce a 100% home grown diet which is predominantly forage based all year round.

We breed Oxford Sandy and Black cross pigs. The Oxford sandy and black pig are a native breed which are slow growing and have exceptional flavour and do well on a lower protein diet. This allows us to grow pigs without dependence on imported proteins such as soya. We cross the sows with a Duroc x Oxford Sandy and Black, This helps us produce a slightly leaner pig with more marbling in the meat. We finish our pigs at between 8-10months of age. They are properly free range and love foraging across our pasture and woodlands. The pigs stay out all year round and sleep in deeply bedded houses. They are regularly rotated onto new ground allowing there paddocks to rest and regenerate. We wean our piglets at 12 -14 weeks and separate them into boys and girls but keep them in their sibling group to continue their mischievous antics together. We feed the sows daily, this is our main opportunity to give them a scratch and tickle. The large amount of exercise and their access to fresh pasture gives their meat excellent flavour and texture with good layer of fat throughout the muscle.

Keep in original packaging & refrigerate 0-4C. Consume by use by (on front or pack) and within 1 day of opening. Suitable for freezing. Freeze on day of delivery. Defrost thoroughly and use within 24 hours

Since taking over the farm in 2014, owners Harry, Emily and their team have been developing vegetable, soft fruit and herb gardens.
