This large leafy green (also known as leaf beet or spinach beet) is actually a relative of chard. Rarely seen in shops because it needs to be picked soon before eating - Rowie at Purton House is picking to order so it's with you as fresh as can be.
Leaf beet has been consumed since ancient times throughout Europe. It is very popular among Mediterranean cooks and the first varieties have been traced back to Sicily.
Keep refrigerated for up to a few days. Wash before use.
Mother and daughter-run Purton House Organics supplies much of our fruit and vegetables, as well as organic beef, pork and eggs.
