Walters Organic Turkeys says
We produce the finest quality turkeys by carefully selecting slow growing breeds that reach full maturity naturally. All our turkeys have plenty of space to run about in and enjoy natural daylight.
From late summer our organic turkeys live in large airy barns that open on to green downland fields. Every day they explore their natural surroundings pecking at the grass and bales in the fresh air. At night they are in large, straw bedded barns with plenty of room.
We are one of the few Organic Turkey producers in the country that hang and dry pluck their turkeys in the traditional way.
We believe our turkeys are full of flavour and very moist due to the traditional methods used to prepare the turkeys. We dry pluck all our turkeys and they are hand finished (this includes the the wing tips which we do not chop off) and then they are hung for at least 7 days in refrigerated storage rooms.

Meet Walters Organic Turkeys
Situated high up on the Berkshire Downs adjacent to the famous Ridgeway Path, Bower Farm, the home of Walters Turkeys is a mixed farm run by the Walters Family since 1911. The farm is leased from Yattendon Estates on a long standing tenancy. Edward is the fourth generation of the Walters Family to be farming at Bower Farm working alongside his father Phillip who is still actively involved. Bower Farm itself extends to approximately 670 acres, comprising 500 acres of arable crops and 170 acres of permanent pasture for cattle and sheep, a further 300 acres of permanent pasture is leased for grazing. The arable side of the farm is very important. A lot of the crops, mainly wheat, barley and oats are used in our mill and mix to make feed for the turkeys. Bower Farm is part of the Mid Tier Stewardship Scheme, this recognises land of great environmental importance and ensures correct management practices are implemented. There are two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) on the farm and two Stone Curlew Plots which are managed in conjunction with the RSPB.Find out more
